Hello my name is Alex Faller, and I have been involved with Christ Church Day School for the last seven years. First as a parent, and for the last two years as a teacher. When we moved to Easton, my husband and I knew that the first thing we had to do was find an amazing preschool for our three-year-old son. After visiting almost every preschool in Easton, it was clear that there was only one choice-Christ Church Day School! My older son had a fantastic first year, and the following year my younger son started as a two-year-old student. CCDS provided a wonderful environment for both of my sons in turn, and a community not just for my boys, but also for my husband and myself. The friendships we made during our CCDS preschool years, adults and children alike, have endured.
As a teacher, I strive to provide all of the educational and social opportunities necessary for development and create a completely nurturing and educational environment every day for every student. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the joy of discovery and accomplishment in our students’ eyes. Preschool is a uniquely formative and special time. The old saying “every day is a new adventure” really holds true at Christ Church Day School! CCDS has been such a part of my family’s life that it has always felt like a home away from home for us. My hope is that CCDS will be like a home away from home for your child and for your family as well!
Hello! I'm Karen Shannahan. I teach the Toddler Program at CCDS and I believe that preschool age children should learn through play and not sitting at a desk. Each child has their own rate of development, and the teacher should teach to that child’s level. That’s why I love our Montessori method of teaching because it gives a child the opportunity to explore and learn at their own rate with guidance and encouragement from the teacher.
Prior to teaching, I had been a parent and volunteer at CCDS for eight years. I always joke that my two children graduated, but I was held back! My degree in nursing and the previous ten years as a stay-at-home mom have certainly given me a lot of skills with young children! Teaching here gives me an opportunity to work with some wonderful children while still having time to spend with mine. I have enjoyed watching the school grow over the years and now with Montessori inspired curriculum, a new playground, Mindful Movers and outdoor classes with Nature Adventures, we have a very unique and inspiring environment to offer our young students!
Hello! My name is Tabitha Strong, and I am a teacher in the Primary classroom. I live in Caroline County with my husband, our three sons and one goofy Newfie! I love chocolate, coffee and doing anything that allows me to be creative. My schooling is in Early Childhood Education but now that two of my three boys are teenagers, I realize how fleeting those early years really are! My experience as both a mother and teacher has allowed me to gain insight on helping our students grow, maximize their strengths, and build their confidence. I believe learning is optimized when a child is happy, secure and comfortable. Christ Church Day School offers exactly that! CCDS promotes a natural learning process while creating a nurturing and supportive environment providing our students with the best possible start in their educational journey!
